Apr 12, 2022

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA – Eric Wiggins, Project Manager for the Washington County Economic Alliance, traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania last week to participate in his third and final session at The University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute (OUEDI). OUEDI is the nation’s premier economic development continuing education program, providing professional economic developers with up-to-date knowledge and the tools necessary to succeed in today’s constantly changing environment.

"Training, mentorship, and relationship building are essential parts of being an economic developer,” said Will Coppage, Executive Director of the Washington County Economic Alliance. “With the completion of OUEDI, Eric is building upon his foundational assets to bring greater strength to both our organization and our community.”

Over the last three years, Wiggins has traveled around the country to take classes taught by national leaders in economic development. “I’ve been given this incredible opportunity to learn from the best practitioners in the country,” said Wiggins. “So much of what I’ve learned at OUEDI has been applicable to Washington County’s economic development efforts. I’m looking forward to bringing everything I’ve learned this week back to the Delta.”

Eric’s participation in OUEDI was made possible in part through two scholarships awarded by the Mississippi Economic Development Council.
