ACT Work Ready Communities

In January 2017, the Washington County Economic Alliance announced that Washington County is now a certified ACT Work Ready Community (WRC). The certification will support Washington County in economic development, industry recruitment, and bolster existing industry by linking workforce development to education and employers’ needs. In January of 2019,  The Washington County Economic Alliance is pleased to announce that Washington County has met all the criteria to achieve their two-year growth and maintenance phase to retain their ACT Work Ready Community certification. Washington County is the second county in the State to achieve its maintenance certification.

The foundation of a community's certification is based on individuals at the county level across the current, transitioning and emerging workforce earning a NCRC and employers recognizing the NCRC. ACT WRC empowers states, regions and counties with data, process and tools that drive economic growth. Participants are leveraging the NCRC to measure and close the skills gap — and building common frameworks that link, align and match their workforce development efforts.
