Westport Linen Services to invest $5.8M

and create 75 addition jobs at new facility.

Greenville, MS – Washington County Economic Alliance (WCEA) is proud to announce Westport Linen Services in December 2020 expanded into Greenville, MS with the purchase of the Broadway Linen Facility. With this purchase, 75 new jobs will be created in addition to the 75 existing jobs at the facility. The investment of $5.8M will go towards equipment and facility upgrades.

“Westport Linen’s $5.8 million investment with 75 jobs adds to over $200 million in local, state, and federal investments announced during this administration,” said Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons. “This investment corresponds to the City’s emphasis on business retention and growth of its existing companies, even with the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to Washington County Economic Alliance, Greenville City Council, Washington County Board of Supervisors, and other local, regional, and state stakeholders who assisted with this project.”

The new facility will allow Westport Linen Services to expand and further focus the Greenville facility on processing medical linen with three new manufacturing lines. Westport Linen Services currently operates three facilities in Louisiana, that serves Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas. The size and location of the facility allows a greater optimization of Westport Linen Services’ supply chain network reaching into Arkansas, Northern Alabama, and Southwest Tennessee.

“We are extremely excited and fortunate to work with the City of Greenville, Washington County and MDA,” said Eddie Lefeaux, CEO and Founding Member of Westport Linen Services. “Our commitment is in creating a consistent job base that allows the employees to grow and excel in all facets of their careers. Our investment in technology and the latest equipment will ensure that we are here for the long term. Our clients will soon see that reliability and dependability with our products and services.”

Westport Linen Services began working with the WCEA and Mississippi Development Authority in 2020. WCEA Executive Director Will Coppage said, “The outward appearance of 2020 gives many folks the attitude that 2020 is a year of hurdles. Projects like this and the team at Westport Linen show business is thriving in Greenville and Washington County. Westport Linen’s team has been amazing to work with, and we all wish them great success.”

The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for workforce training. Westport Linen also qualifies for the Growth and Prosperity Program, which designates specific counties as GAP counties and provides income, franchise, sales and property tax incentives to companies that locate or expand in these areas of Mississippi. The program is designed to encourage development in economically challenged areas of the state.

“The Mississippi Delta is primed for economic growth, and Westport Linen’s new Greenville operations serve as another strong testament of Mississippi’s economic development partnerships working together to bring viable job opportunities to the region’s workforce,” said MDA Executive Director John Rounsaville. “MDA appreciates the Washington County Economic Alliance team for their hard work in bringing 75 new jobs to the people of Greenville and Washington County. They will have a strong positive impact on the entire Delta Region for years to come.”
